I've been struggling with alcoholism and addiction for most of my adult life, and this was the first place that was really able to give me any real help. Having gone through just about every other program in greater NOLA, here is what makes Avenues different. They treat the INDIVIDUAL PERSON rather than a "one-size-fits-all" approach that other programs promote. They address any outlying mental health issues first, and the treatment plan is designed for the person's particular needs. They treat the client like an adult rather than an unruly child that needs scolding and constant correction. They keep you comfortable, occupied and help build you up with sincere love and support. I went through Townsend when it was in New Orleans East (now relocated to Covington) in 2019 and Dr. Julius was the first doctor to really listen to me, and changed my medication regiment to something that actually worked. I enjoyed over 2 years continuous sobriety for the first time in my life. Slipping back during quarantine, and completely falling back into full blown addiction this march they welcomed me back with love and open arms. Avenues has done nothing short of saving my life twice and I am eternally grateful for them and all their amazing staff. They really go above and beyond every single day. Even if other treatment centers haven't been able to help you, give Avenues a chance.read less

For the first time in my recovery, I feel like for the first time I am hopeful. On top of the groups, the counselors and techs are phenomenal. For the most part, most of the techs care and will go to the extreme to help each client. The difference with this facility and others are the living situations. You stay in an apartment and can cook your own food. Staying in the apartment gives you less of a feel that the program is less of an institution and more freedom. I would recommend this program before any other. Having staff that cares makes all the difference.read less

By the end of my stay, I was able to identify my true self and begin to make the changes needed for a better way of life. The staff ( most of whom are in recovery themselves) were amazing. They made me feel supported and safe. The doctors worked closely with me to make sure I was always comfortable. Counselors were incredible. I was able to focus on myself and receive counseling that I desperately needed. They were very insightful and helped me begin to understand some of the root issues that were causing me to stay sick . After 45 days I walked out with a new perspective on life and a community of people that care ! Avenues Treatment Center provides an after-care group called “ ALUMNI”. This fellowship of people is vital in helping me stay sober after leaving the treatment center. To me this has been most effective in my after-care plan. If you are ready for help and searching for the answers, STOP NOW and call AVENUES RECOVERY CENTER!!read less

Britt uses an intersectional framework to understand and collaboratively address challenges and strengths unique to each client.
